Why Blogging?… Why not? Well if you think of it, the potential of a blog in this day and age is huge. And by huge I don’t mean simply making a good looking website and writing cool stuff to share with friends. But by huge I mean huge in terms of recognition, respect and of course money!
Just think of it – In the last 3-4 years how often have you booked a movie ticket online or made an online transaction? I am pretty sure the answer is a lot and probably you don’t even remember doing things without the internet anymore. Even our Government is pushing for a Digital India. Infact Google has teamed up to provide nearly 500 FREE WiFi hotspots on our Railway Stations. Now imagine the number of people who will gain additional access to internet in India!
All Things are Going Digital:
According to InternetLiveStats.com the number of Internet users in India in 2014 alone was 243,198,922. This number has only grown since then and grown many folds. Among that there is an ever growing share of Mobile Internet users which is currently at 159 million in India.
Enough of the stats 🙂 but I have seen so many people above 40 years of age using smartphones and starting to order and trust things online. My uncle who never would even touch a calculator is now using an Android Device and uses Facebook, WhatsApp and orders stuff over Flipkart and Amazon. I am pretty sure people around you too are using internet more and more.
The average age of using a tech device in India is going down too. More and more people are online and will continue to get online – including our Government mechanisms – and it will be faster than we think.
It is a growing market…. and hence I see huge potential in creating and running your blog in today’s India.
Potential of a Blog:
Now consider this… if almost everything is online; there will be people using the newer things online. Or when I say everyday we have more and more people getting online it means these people would need some sort of help to get around. Who solves their queries? Who gives them answers? Google? Well, but from where does Google get all the information from?
Even Google needs content to show up the answers or solutions to the queries of these huge number of people. And I am just talking about India, have not even mentioned the global demand, so you can only imagine. Online Content is what is in demand and will grow in demand.
A blog is something that can fulfill this demand, to be more clear YOU can fulfill this demand and in the process gain recognition, fame and of course make some money as side income.
ACB – Anyone Can Blog… But….
Blogging is something that you can start either as a hobby or even from a long term career point of view. And it requires very little investment – as low as a bill from a hangout session with friends at a cafe’. Yep.
You can start a Blog in English or Even Hindi or any language you might want to.
Blogging has many benefits and lets leave aside the money for a second. When I started my first blog, I saw genuine problem among people in my niche. There were lot of companies with their ‘professional websites’ but none that actually solved the problem that I felt a lot of people would have.
It started out as a hobby and to solve a problem, but later on before I realized I had a decent following on my blog and got in daily readers who needed answers to similar problems. It was only then that I chose to take up blogging as a serious side income gig. People looked upto me for answers and it felt good that I was helping someone with their problems.
I never had any prior blogging experience but had the desire to do it.
If I can – You Can – Anyone Can start a Blog!
When I teamed up with my colleague, we launched a couple of more blogs – We have managed to earn $ 36,000 as Side Income in under 5 years!
Perks of being a blogger: Money – Yes, but a Lot More with it!
While my niche needed me to solve a problem, there were some friends who took to blogging to share their interests and hobbies. One of my friends, today runs a successful blog that caters to book readers and provides them with reviews, reading advice regarding books and authors. So really, the blogging is an outlet for many who wish to share their thoughts with the world, an opportunity not many of us get otherwise.
In the process, as your blog starts to grow people trust your word, they ask you for advice, your friends will see in a different light and your family will be proud too. You; well, you will feel good about the attention you are getting. Blogging will give you recognition and respect from your peers.
You can even blog about your thoughts, experiences or about a project that is close to your heart and if people like what you write they will appreciate it and will give you a lot of happiness and peace of mind too.
And then there is the obvious thing – Money. Yeah, bloggers make good amount of money if they have the right kind of guidance and select the right Mentors. A lot of people have given up their regular jobs and careers to pursue fulltime blogging as the income from it is at times equal or even more than the average monthly salary they earned. Some pursue it as a part time hobby also and make good cash as side income from blogging.
Not to mention you are your own boss and also have financial independence.
Improve your Thinking – Broaden your Mind with Blogging:
Apart from recognition, respect and money, blogging greatly improves your thinking process and makes you a better person who wouldn’t be wasting time over petty things but someone who is looking for opportunities to make a difference in their and others’ lives.
Not only that, you will learn to realize the true power of Social Media which is way beyond, status updates, comments, likes and Selfies. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc have a huge potential that only a blogger will understand. It is the best way to build a brand and market your content.
People will recognise you on Social Media and will associate you with a brand!
You will be an expert at marketing content, another thing which is already in great demand but will only grow manifolds in the next couple of years.
You will never have to think of taking up a Door-to-Door Sales job or Make cold-calls to get leads and retain your job!
And if that was not Enough…
Well, if you think so far that blogging involves only solving some problem or coming up with the Next Big Idea! then you are WRONG. Any simple idea or a niche if channeled correctly and guided by the right mentor has the potential to be big. Take ScoopWhoop for example. They started of as a site with published things that you and I would discuss with friends over coffee or gossip during lunch breaks, they took this simple thing and thought why not simply share it online for all to read and enjoy – Last year they managed to raise Rs. 10 Crores. Need I say more?
It is not about thinking BIG or Solving a Problem always, it is about choosing the correct niche, picking the right idea, however small it is. It is the execution that counts – Taking the first step – the leap of faith…. and rest will follow.
Just look around, pick and idea, solve a problem or ramble random things to your target audience – Start a Blog… for the time is right, the time is now!
